Night Watch

ListeningWriting

About this game

Night Watch is a stormy listening game where students keep watch in a lighthouse and rescue the words lost from an incoming radio message. Listen closely, fill the gaps, and write the whole sentence before the lamp burns out.

How to play

  1. 1Divide the class into teams and give each team a whiteboard and a marker. For a more advanced alternative students can play individually in notebooks.
  2. 2Read the round's message aloud from the included teacher worksheet, pausing at each lost word.
  3. 3Teams write the whole sentence on their board/notebook before time runs out.
  4. 4When time is up, all teams hold up their boards.
  5. 5Reveal the sentence and the point value of each lost word.
  6. 6Teams earn points for every lost word they wrote correctly.
  7. 7The team with the most points at the end wins!
